Baco Exu do Blues is the stage name of Diogo Álvaro Ferreira Moncorvo, a prominent Brazilian rapper, singer, and songwriter from Salvador, Bahia. He rose to national prominence in 2016 following the release of the track "Sulicídio," a collaboration with rapper Diomedes Chinaski. The song acted as a provocative critique of the Brazilian rap scene's heavy concentration in the Southeast, specifically Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, demanding greater visibility and respect for musical production coming from the North and Northeast regions of the country.\n\nHis debut solo studio album, Esú, was released in 2017 to critical acclaim. The work is noted for its complex lyrical architecture, building bridges between themes of faith, death, love, and the visibility of black masculinity.
