Biography

Badi Assad, stage name of Mariângela Assad Simão, was born in São João da Boa Vista and built a solid international career as a guitarist, singer, percussionist, and composer. The daughter of a family with a strong musical tradition, she followed in the footsteps of her siblings, deeply immersing herself in the universe of classical guitar and instrumental music before expanding her artistic language into vocal and percussive experimentations that marked her unique signature.

Throughout her career, Badi has stood out on stages worldwide and recorded albums acclaimed by specialized publications, consolidating her name alongside great exponents of instrumental music and jazz. Her work has included partnerships with renowned artists such as Naná Vasconcelos and Toquinho, as well as ventures into literature, theater, and projects focused on education and global peace.
