Formed in the early 1970s in São Paulo, Brazil, Banda Kadoshi began its musical journey under the name "Os Redimidos." In the 1980s, the group evolved into "Actos 2," experiencing various lineup changes before finally settling on the name "Kadoshi" (meaning "Holy" or "Set Apart" in Hebrew) in the late 1980s. This pivotal shift marked the beginning of their rise as a significant force in modern evangelical music.

Banda Kadoshi is widely recognized as a pioneer of "black gospel" in Brazil, masterfully blending spiritual fervor with urban sounds. Their music uniquely incorporates elements of R&B, soul, blues, rap, and rock, setting them apart in the Brazilian gospel scene. This innovative approach paved the way for a new generation of artists who embraced Black Music influences within their faith-based expressions.

The band's albums "Encontro" (1992) and "Compromisso" (1993) were particularly influential, resonating deeply with audiences and becoming anthems for congregational worship. Their pioneering use of a choir in performances, a first for a Brazilian band, further solidified their innovative status and inspired many other groups to experiment with richer vocal arrangements.
