Formed in Salvador, Bahia, in 1986, Banda Reflexu's emerged as a pivotal force in the early days of Axé music, a vibrant genre that would soon conquer Brazil.

Initially known as Raízes do Sol, the band quickly evolved into Banda Reflexu's, a name that would become synonymous with samba-reggae and a strong connection to Afro-Brazilian culture. Their music was characterized by its rhythmic complexity, potent percussion, and lyrics that celebrated African heritage and addressed social issues, including racism and the fight for equality. This thematic depth, combined with infectious melodies, set them apart and resonated deeply with audiences.

Banda Reflexu's achieved significant national recognition, becoming one of the first Bahian bands to gain widespread success outside their home state.
