Biography
Banda Xeiro Verde is a Brazilian calypso and brega band formed in Belém, Pará, on September 30, 1994. Initially created to be the house band for the Xodó music venue, the group quickly gained a following and established itself with its own work. The band is known for its pioneering blend of Paraense music with electronic beats, contributing significantly to the tecnomelody genre. Their music often features themes of love, relationships, and celebration, resonating with a wide audience across Brazil and even internationally, with successful shows in French Guiana.
The band's lineup has seen various musicians over the years, but has consistently featured strong vocal performances, often led by Hellen Patrícia, who is also a composer. Other notable members have included Flávio on vocals, Leonardo on guitar, Flavinho on bass, Alan on keyboards, Norberto on drums, and percussionists Jacaré and Zé Brasil. The band's performances also incorporate choreography and dance, with a team of dancers and a choreographer.
Banda Xeiro Verde achieved significant commercial success, with their first CD in 1998 selling 100,000 copies nationwide and earning a Golden Record. They were recognized as "Revelation Band" in 2000 for their album "Pura Emoção." Their songs have been featured in national television, including the hit "Tá Faltando Homem" on the Rede Globo novela "Avenida Brasil" and "Não Sou Tua" on the series "Onde Nascem os Fortes." With a career spanning over three decades, Banda Xeiro Verde is considered a major representative of Paraense brega music, maintaining a strong connection with their loyal fanbase and continuing to perform and release music.
