Biography

Bartô Galeno, stage name of Bartolomeu da Silva, was born in Sousa, Paraíba, on May 20, 1950, and built a solid career in Brazilian romantic and brega music. Raised between Paraíba and Rio Grande do Norte, he began his artistic journey in childhood in Mossoró, where he stood out on radio programs and gained notoriety for his striking voice before moving to São Paulo. On São Paulo soil, he came into contact with major names of Jovem Guarda, such as Roberto Carlos and Jerry Adriani, paving his way as a composer and performer in the country's music scene.

National recognition as a singer was consolidated in the 1970s, with the release of his first album, Só Lembranças, in 1975, followed by the massive success of "No Toca-Fita do Meu Carro", the title track of his 1978 record. Throughout a career spanning more than four decades, Bartô Galeno shared important moments with artists such as Agnaldo Timóteo and maintained a prolific discography that marked generations of listeners passionate about romantic popular music.

Even after facing health challenges, such as a stroke suffered in 2017, the singer demonstrated great resilience, preserving his unique sonic identity and the public's affection. His work remains an important chapter of Brazil's brega and romantic music, celebrated in festivals and compilations that attest to his historical and cultural relevance.
