Biography
Beatriz Azevedo is a Brazilian multi-artist who works as a poet, singer, songwriter, performer, and director. She has a solid academic background, holding a master's degree in comparative literature from USP and a doctorate in performing arts from UNICAMP, in addition to having studied music at the Mannes College of Music in New York and dramaturgy at Sala Beckett in Barcelona. Her artistic trajectory moves between music, literature, and theater, with notable appearances on international stages such as Lincoln Center and MoMA.
As a composer and performer, she has released critically acclaimed works such as the albums "bumbum do poeta", "antroPOPhagia", and "ALEGRIA", collaborating with major names in music and literature such as Tom Zé, Vinicius Cantuária, Augusto de Campos, and Cristóvão Bastos. Her musical work engages deeply with modernism and cultural anthropophagy, having been featured in prominent international collections alongside icons such as Tom Jobim, Elis Regina, and Chico Buarque.
In theater and literature, Beatriz stood out performing in productions at Teatro Oficina under the direction of Zé Celso Martinez Correa and publishing books such as "Antropofagia Palimpsesto Selvagem" through Cosac Naify. She also founded the Cabaret Babel company and has received several awards for her research in scenic language and literature. Her fertile transit between different artistic languages consolidates her unique position in contemporary Brazilian culture.
