Biography

Belo, born Marcelo Pires Vieira, is a prominent Brazilian singer, songwriter, and actor who rose to fame in the 1990s. Initially recognized as a skilled cavaquinho player in various groups around São Paulo, he eventually became the lead vocalist of the pagode band Soweto. With Soweto, he achieved massive national success, releasing hit albums like Farol das Estrelas and selling over a million copies of records such as Refém do Coração.

Transitioning to a solo career in 2000, Belo released his debut solo album Desafio, which earned a Diamond Disc and featured hit singles that became staple tracks on Brazilian soap operas. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with numerous notable Brazilian artists, including Ivete Sangalo, Alcione, and Djavan. His distinctive romantic vocal style established him as a leading figure in modern pagode and romantic samba, cementing his legacy through numerous successful solo albums, live DVDs, and concert tours across Brazil.
