Biography

Josemberg de Sousa Lima, known artistically as Berg Lima, is a Brazilian singer born in Teresina, Piauí, on January 1, 1974. His musical journey began at the age of 19, initially as a dancer and theater enthusiast. He honed his artistic skills through dance schools and commercials before joining the group Som da Praça and later the band Zanzibar. Lima's versatility was evident as he also worked with Walney Haidar on the TV Diário program "Must."

Berg Lima gained significant national recognition for his powerful vocals as a lead singer in prominent forró bands. He was a vocalist for Calcinha Preta, one of Brazil's most successful forró bands, and also performed with Caviar com Rapadura. His career has seen him transition through various forró ensembles, including Mulheres Perdidas, Oxente Music, Piky com Sal, Língua de Cobra, Forró Brega Brasil, Gatões do Forró, and Canários do Reino, leaving his mark with numerous hits. He has also explored a gospel music phase, touring in Europe and recording a DVD in London.

Since 2011, Berg Lima has pursued a solo career, continuing to perform and release music. He has also ventured into presenting, launching his YouTube program "Farofa Musical." Lima's enduring connection to forró music is evident in his continued performances and reinterpretations of classic songs, such as his rendition of Calcinha Preta's "Eu Me Apaixonei." His career showcases a dynamic evolution from dancer to acclaimed vocalist within the vibrant Brazilian forró scene.
