Biography

Beto Carrero, artistic name of João Batista Sérgio Murad, was born in São José do Rio Preto on September 9, 1937, and died in São Paulo on February 1, 2008. He was a Brazilian artist, presenter, sertanejo musician, rodeo announcer, advertising executive, and businessman, noted for his cowboy performance and for creating the famous Beto Carrero World theme park in Santa Catarina.

Throughout his career, he was strongly connected to the artistic and television fields, working as a talent agent and producer on projects alongside iconic figures like Renato Aragão, Dedé Santana, and Xuxa. His foray into the circus universe and his passion for rodeo culture consolidated the image of the Brazilian cowboy who defends the oppressed, a persona that led him to travel the country with his troupe and star in film and television productions.

In addition to his mark on entertainment and advertising, where he led high-profile campaigns, Beto Carrero left a lasting legacy in national tourism with the creation of Latin America's largest theme park. He passed away in 2008 due to surgical complications, but his cultural contribution remains alive in the public memory and the history of leisure in Brazil.
