Biography

Beto Hortis is a renowned Brazilian accordionist, arranger, and composer, born in Camaragibe, Pernambuco. His musical career began at the age of 12, driven by the influence of his grandfather, who was also a musician and played the 8-bass accordion and the accordion. This early passion for the instrument led him to become one of the great names of forró and frevo in Pernambuco and Brazil.

Throughout his career, Beto Hortis has played accordion for renowned artists such as Jorge de Altinho and Alcymar Monteiro, in addition to participating as an instrumentalist and arranger in recordings by various forró musicians, including Paulinho Leite, Nádia Maia, and Xico Bizerra. His skill with the accordion led him to win first place at the Ceará Accordionists Festival in 2007 and, in 2013, he won the 1st Frevo of Humanity Festival in Recife, with the song "Que Saudade Seu Domingos (Homenagem a Dominguinhos)".

Recognized for his dedication and discipline, Beto Hortis seeks inspiration from masters such as Dominguinhos, Oswaldinho, Sivuca, and Luiz Gonzaga, keeping the tradition of pé de serra forró alive. Currently, he frequently performs with his daughters, Maria Júlia and Thaissa Roberta, who are also musicians, strengthening the family legacy in regional music. Beto Hortis is an ambassador of forró, a rhythm he considers a heritage of humanity, and continues to enchant audiences with his talent and passion for the accordion.
