Biography

Billy Bond, born Guiliano Canterini in La Spezia, Italy, is an Italian-Argentine musician, singer, and producer who became a prominent figure in the Brazilian music and theatrical scenes after relocating to Brazil. Having previously pioneered Argentine rock as the frontman of La Pesada del Rock and Roll, he moved to Brazil in 1974 following political instability in Argentina. In his adopted country, he quickly immersed himself in the local music culture, producing notable artists such as Ney Matogrosso and joining the historic Brazilian rock band Joelho de Porco.

Throughout his career in Brazil, Bond continued to innovate by leading musical projects like Billy Bond & Quem São Eles? and Billy Bond & Os Desconhecidos de Sempre, alongside his production work that notably brought the band Queen to the country in 1981. He also expanded his creative output into television during the 1980s with the program BB Video Clip on Rede Record. Alongside contemporaries of the Brazilian rock movement, his eclectic musical sensibilities bridged the gap between raw rock energy and elaborate stage production.

In later decades, Bond transitioned into a successful career as a theatrical producer and director of major musical adaptations in Brazil. Beginning with productions like Rent and Les Misérables, he eventually focused on staging large-scale children's literary classics as musicals, including The Wizard of Oz and Pinocchio. His diverse artistic footprint cemented his legacy as a multifaceted contributor to Brazilian entertainment.
