Biography
Blindagem is a pioneering Brazilian rock band founded in 1978 in the city of Curitiba, Paraná. Emerging during a time when rock music was beginning to gain prominence in the country's cultural landscape, the group developed a unique sound that blends heavy rock with elements of romantic ballads and regional influences. Throughout their early years, the band performed at notable festivals such as Águas Claras and Camburock, establishing a strong presence on the national circuit. A significant turning point in their history was the collaboration between vocalist Ivo Rodrigues and renowned poet Paulo Leminski, which yielded enduring tracks that helped define the group's identity.
In 1981, the band released their self-titled debut album through Gravadora Continental, featuring the hit song "Marinheiro," which received widespread radio play across Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. Over the subsequent decades, Blindagem shared stages with major acts of the Brazilian rock movement, including Celso Blues Boy, Cazuza, and Titãs, while maintaining their roots in Curitiba's vibrant local music scene. Despite the loss of their iconic frontman Ivo Rodrigues in 2010, the band persevered, continuing to perform and celebrate their legacy through special projects such as their symphonic "Rock em Concerto" DVD recorded at Teatro Guaíra.
