Biography

Bonde da Stronda was a Brazilian rap and hip hop group founded in 2006 in Rio de Janeiro by childhood friends Mr. Thug and Léo Stronda, alongside former members MC Cot and MC Night. The group emerged from informal gatherings and homemade recordings, eventually pioneering the "stronda rap" style characterized by lyrics centered on nightlife, relationships, and youth culture. Their independent releases gained massive traction online, bridging underground hip-hop aesthetics with mainstream teen popularity.

Throughout their career, the duo released several notable albums and mixtapes, including Stronda Style, Nova Era da Stronda, A Profecia, and O Lado Certo da Vida Certa, collaborating with prominent artists such as Mr. Catra, Dudu Nobre, and MC Guimê. They achieved significant chart and internet success with tracks like "Mansão Thug Stronda," "Tic-Tic Nervoso," and "Na Atividade." Their music frequently blended rap beats with diverse musical influences, including samba and electronic elements, establishing a distinct presence in the Brazilian urban music landscape.

The group remained active for nearly two decades through various studio projects and digital releases. In March 2023, Léo Stronda officially announced his departure from the group following his conversion to Christianity. Their body of work remains an influential touchstone for internet-era Brazilian hip hop and youth-oriented rap music.
