Biography

Bossacucanova is a prominent Brazilian band founded in 1997 by bassist Marcio Menescal, keyboardist and sound engineer Alex Moreira, and DJ Marcelinho da Lua. The group is widely recognized for pioneering a unique fusion of traditional bossa nova and electronic music, creating a vibrant modern sound that quickly captivated listeners both at home and abroad.

Throughout their successful career, the band has achieved international acclaim, performing at prestigious venues and festivals such as the Hollywood Bowl, Roskilde, and North Sea Jazz. Their sophomore album, Brasilidade, earned a Latin Grammy nomination in 2002 for Best Contemporary Brazilian Pop Album. Later releases, including Nossa Onda É Essa, further solidified their global reach by topping the US iTunes World Chart.

The ensemble has collaborated with numerous legendary figures of Brazilian music across their recordings and live performances, including Roberto Menescal, Adriana Calcanhotto, Rita Lee, and Elza Soares.
