Biography

Bozo is an iconic character on Brazilian television, known for his role as a children's show host. The clown figure was brought to Brazil by Silvio Santos in 1980, through SBT, and quickly became a cultural phenomenon.

The "Bozo" show was marked by games, sweepstakes, skits with supporting characters, and reading viewer mail. Bozo also released albums that achieved great sales success, winning gold records and the Troféu Imprensa for best children's show for several years. The character's popularity was so great that SBT even came to be nicknamed the "Sistema Bozo de Televisão".

Throughout its broadcast, the role of Bozo was played by several actors, among them Wandeko Pipoca, Luís Ricardo, Paulo Seyssel, Arlindo Barreto, Décio Roberto, Charles Myara, Nanni Souza, Jonas Santos, Evandro Antunes, and Cau Alves. The show had its last broadcast in 1991, when the character's licensing rights expired. The figure of Bozo, however, remained in the emotional memory of generations of Brazilians.
