Biography

The vocal ensemble BR6 is a Brazilian a cappella group originating from Rio de Janeiro, composed of six talented musicians and educators. The original lineup featured vocalists Crismarie Hackenberg, Deco Fiori, Marcelo Caldi, Augusto Ordine, Simô, and vocal percussionist Naife Simões. Together, they perform complex arrangements of Brazilian popular music entirely without the aid of instruments.

In 2004, the group released their debut album, "MPB a Cappella," initially in the United States and later through the Brazilian label Biscoito Fino. The record achieved international acclaim at the 2005 Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards, winning best album in the Folk/World category alongside Cartola's classic "Disfarça e Chora" taking the prize for best song. Following this success, BR6 continued to bridge Brazilian traditions with global a cappella standards, much like contemporary vocal groups influenced by legends such as Tom Jobim and groups like MPB4.

Building upon their international reputation, BR6 released "Here to Stay – Gershwin & Jobim" in 2007, earning another prestigious Contemporary A Cappella Recording Award in 2008 for Best Jazz Album. This release further solidified their place in Brazilian music history, even contributing tracks to television soundtracks. Through their innovative vocal percussion and harmonies, BR6 has left an indelible mark on the a cappella genre in Brazil.
