Biography

Brasas do Forró is a renowned Brazilian electronic forró band, formed in Fortaleza in late 1989 by accordionist Antônio Ivanildo Façanha Moreira, known as Didi. The group gained national notoriety and made its mark on the history of northeastern music by pioneering the creation of "forronerão", a striking fusion between traditional forró and gaúcho vanerão, propelled by prominent partnerships with artists such as Gaúcho da Fronteira.

Throughout a trajectory spanning more than three decades, the band has accumulated major commercial successes, such as the hits "Pra Recomeçar", "Pergunta sem Resposta", "Todo Tempo é Pouco pra Te Amar", "Irreverência" and "Tão Pedindo um Vanerão". The group also stood out for the impressive sales of its albums in the late 1990s and early 2000s, earning gold and platinum records, in addition to exerting a strong influence on the sound of other successful modernized electronic forró projects, such as Aviões do Forró.

Even though it has undergone several changes in its lineup of vocalists and musicians over the years—with stints by names like Toca do Vale, Assum Preto and Zé Airton—the band has maintained its identity anchored in the accordion and the fast-paced beat. Celebrating decades on the road, the group remains active on stages and is renewing its lineup, keeping the tradition and innovation of forronerão alive in the Brazilian music scene.
