Biography

Breno Ruiz is a Brazilian pianist and composer born in Sorocaba in 1983, having grown up and taken his first musical steps in the neighboring city of Itapetininga. Throughout his career, he has solidified important compositional partnerships with prominent names in national music, such as Rafael and Rita Alterio, Cristina Saraiva, Sergio Natureza, and, most consistently, the renowned lyricist Paulo Cesar Pinheiro. His works have been interpreted and recorded by several expressive artists, including Tetê Espíndola, Renato Braz, and the group MPB4.

As an instrumentalist and arranger, Breno performed with the group Garimpo and arranged the album Terra Brasileira, by composer Cristina Saraiva. In 2016, he took important steps in his discography by releasing the CD Mar Aberto at the Ibirapuera Auditorium, alongside Renato Braz, Roberto Leão, and Mário Gil, featuring a special guest appearance by Dori Caymmi. In the same year, he released the album Cantilenas Brasileiras, the result of his ongoing partnership with Paulo Cesar Pinheiro.

Expanding his work on the guitar and in composition, he released the album Diferente in 2019 in collaboration with composer and classical/acoustic guitarist Miguel Rabello. His artistic output moves strongly toward the renewal of Brazilian song, maintaining close dialogues with the tradition of MPB and with great masters of our music, such as Dori Caymmi.
