Biography

Cacala Carvalho is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, and guitarist born in Rio de Janeiro in the late 1960s. She has embraced Niterói as her home, currently residing in the city's oceanic region. Carvalho's musical style is described as "psychedelic bossa," blending influences from jazz and MPB with a touch of rock 'n' roll, reflecting her passion for the sounds of the 1970s.

Her career began in 1987 with the vocal group Maite-tchu, which gained significant popularity in Rio de Janeiro throughout the late 80s and 90s. After leaving Maite-tchu in 1998, she began working on her solo career, releasing her first independent album, "Ela e Ele e Eu," in 2001. Carvalho has also been an active member of the renowned samba group Arranco de Varsóvia since 2001. She is also part of the female vocal trio Folia de 3, which released the album "Pessoa Rara" in tribute to Ivan Lins in 2005. Furthermore, she directs the vocal group Flor do Canto and the Casarão da Região Oceânica de Niterói choir.

Carvalho's discography includes eleven albums, one DVD, one EP, and several singles, both solo and with her various groups. She has collaborated with numerous notable Brazilian artists, including Ivan Lins, Martinho da Vila, and Beth Carvalho. Her 2012 album, "Cada Tempo em Seu Lugar," is a tribute to Gilberto Gil, recorded as a duo with pianist João Braga. Currently, she is preparing a new authorial album to be released by Zênitha Música.
