Cacilda Becker was one of the most celebrated and awarded actresses in the history of Brazilian theater, known for her dedication to national artistic works and her pivotal role in professionalizing the stage in Brazil. Born in Pirassununga, she began her artistic journey with ballet and radioteatro before moving to Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo to pursue a career in acting, eventually becoming a foundational member of the legendary Teatro Brasileiro de Comédia (TBC). Throughout her illustrious career, she starred in numerous acclaimed productions, working alongside prominent figures of Brazilian culture such as Nelson Rodrigues, Cleyde Yáconis, and Walmor Chagas.

Her immense theatrical legacy includes unforgettable performances in classic and modern plays, ranging from Greek tragedy to works by Tennessee Williams and Samuel Beckett. Beyond her artistic achievements, she was a fierce advocate for the theatrical community, serving as president of the São Paulo State Theater Commission during a turbulent period under the military dictatorship. Her sudden illness and passing in 1969, while performing on stage in Esperando Godot, marked a profound loss for Brazilian arts, cementing her status as a true pioneer of the national stage.
