Biography

Caio Prado Ribeiro, known artistically as Caio Prado, is a Brazilian singer and songwriter born and raised in the suburbs of Rio de Janeiro. He launched his commercial career in 2014 with the release of his first CD, "Variável eloquente." Prado is also recognized for his role in the trio "Não Recomendados" (Unrecommended), alongside Daniel Chaudon and Diego Moraes. This group gained popularity within the LGBT community by using music as a tool to combat homophobia and gender stereotypes. His artistic journey includes winning the "Cepe Petrobras" contest at Teatro Rival in Rio de Janeiro, where he was awarded "Best Performer" and "Best Song." He has also received recognition at the "Festival de Ilha Grande" and the "Festival de Três Rios."

Prado's music often delves into social commentary, addressing themes of gender, race, freedom of expression, religious tolerance, and political resistance. His second solo album, "Incendeia," released in 2018 and produced by Alê Siqueira, features ten tracks, nine of which are original compositions. The album's single "É proibido estacionar na merda" exemplifies his direct lyrical style. His compositions have also been recorded by other artists, including Duda Brack and Anna Ratto. He draws inspiration from Brazilian cultural movements known for their transgressive and taboo-breaking nature, such as Tropicália and the work of Secos & Molhados.

Beyond his solo work, Caio Prado's involvement with "Não Recomendados" highlights his commitment to activism through art. The trio's performances often incorporate cross-dressing to challenge gender norms and spark dialogue about societal prejudices. They have collaborated with prominent artists like Ney Matogrosso and Johnny Hooker, further amplifying their message. Prado's artistic output, whether solo or with the trio, consistently aims to provoke thought, encourage dialogue, and promote a more inclusive and tolerant society, positioning him as a significant voice in contemporary Brazilian music.
