Biography

Cama de Gato is a renowned Brazilian instrumental musical group originally from Rio de Janeiro, founded in 1982. Over more than four decades of career, the ensemble has established itself as one of the pillars of instrumental music in the country, standing out initially in the 1980s for practicing a jazz fusion seasoned with samba and funk roots.

In 1986, the quartet released their acclaimed self-titled debut album, which achieved impressive sales for the instrumental niche and opened doors for international tours in European countries, the Americas, and the United States. Throughout its history, the group has collaborated with important instrumentalists such as Pascoal Meirelles, Mauro Senise, and Romero Lubambo, renewing their sound and increasingly incorporating genuinely Brazilian rhythmic accents from the 1990s onward.

The group's work also gained international projection through tracks like "Gonzagueando", part of the album Dança da Lua. With memorable performances on stages such as the Free Jazz Festival and nominations for significant national music awards, the lineup has consolidated a legacy of harmonic sophistication and artistic relevance alongside other exponents of the genre such as Jota Moraes and Arthur Maia.
