Biography

Câmbio Negro HC is a hardcore punk band formed in Recife, Pernambuco, in 1983. Considered one of the pioneers of the genre in the Brazilian Northeast, the band emerged during a period of little visibility for rock in the region, facing difficulties with equipment and places to rehearse and perform. The initial lineup included Nino (drums), Fred 04 (guitar), and Renato L (vocals), who would later become important figures in the Manguebeat movement. The name "Câmbio Negro" was a choice that represented something unconventional, and the addition of "HC" (Hardcore) solidified their musical identity.

The band released their first LP, "O Espelho dos Deuses", in 1990, which was the first hardcore album released in the North/Northeast. In 1992, they released "Terror nas Ruas", consolidating their heavy line and their importance in the Recife and Brazilian rock scene. Throughout their trajectory, Câmbio Negro HC participated in various festivals and shared the stage with national and international names, in addition to influencing generations of musicians. Their lyrics address themes such as social protest, criticism of violence, and inequality, maintaining a powerful message.

With a discography that includes albums like "Ecos do 3° Mundo" and "Primitivo", Câmbio Negro HC has remained active, with comings and goings in their lineup, but always with the grit and attitude that marked their career. The band is recognized for their resilience and fundamental contribution to the development of hardcore and Brazilian rock, especially in the northeastern scene. The influence of bands like Discharge is frequently cited as a milestone in their sound.
