Biography

Carla Boregas is a Brazilian musician and sound artist born in São Paulo in 1984. Her artistic practice is centered on the creation of sonic environments through the manipulation of synthesizers, field recordings, and acoustic sounds, with a strong emphasis on texture, repetition, and sensoriality. Boregas's work spans composition, production, performance, and sound installation, and she frequently collaborates with artists from the dance, film, and theater sectors.

In 2011, Boregas co-founded the genre-bending band RAKTA, where she played bass and electronics. Since then, she has been a prominent figure in the Brazilian and international music scenes, engaging in numerous solo projects and collaborations. She also played a role in running AUTA, a former venue dedicated to experimental music in São Paulo, and managed the record label Dama Da Noite Discos. Additionally, she curated the Berlin festival and platform Radical Sounds Latin America.

Boregas is also a member of Fronte Violeta, a transdisciplinary duo formed in 2015 that explores sound in a multi-sensory way, focusing on restoring sensitivity through a dialogue with the natural world. In 2020, she began a collaboration with multi-instrumentalist M. Takara, releasing acclaimed albums such as "Linha D'Água" and "Grande Massa D'Água," which merge Boregas's electronic soundscapes with Takara's percussive improvisations. Her debut solo album, "Pena ao Mar," was released in 2023, further solidifying her reputation as a visionary in electronic and experimental music.
