Biography

Carla Cristina was born in Salvador, Bahia, and since childhood she harbored the dream of singing on float trucks (trios elétricos) during Carnival. At age twelve, she was already performing in bars and local festivals, passing through experiences as the lead vocalist of Beer Banda and the band Papa Léguas, with which she received the Dodô e Osmar trophy for breakthrough singer in 1996. In 1997, she joined a group of friends to form As Meninas, a project that launched her nationally within the axé music scene.

With As Meninas, Carla achieved enormous commercial and popular success with hits like "Xibom Bombom", "Tapa Aqui, Descobre Ali" and "Samba da Nega Maluca", earning a gold record and topping Brazilian radio charts. During this phase, she shared the musical space with big names of the genre such as Ivete Sangalo, Carla Visi and Margareth Menezes. Following disagreements with the group's management regarding the members' autonomy, she left the band in late 2002 to embark on her solo career.

In her solo career, she released works such as the album Brasileira and the live recording Coisas do Axé, in addition to briefly joining the band Tribahia and exploring influences from artists like Baby Consuelo. Alongside her music, Carla also worked as a television host fronting the show Bom D+, on Record Bahia, consolidating her artistic trajectory in Bahian culture.
