Biography

Carla Visi is a prominent Brazilian singer and journalist born in Salvador, Bahia. She began her musical journey singing in bars and providing backing vocals before stepping into the spotlight as the lead singer of groups like Companhia Clic and the renowned axé band Cheiro de Amor. During her successful tenure with Cheiro de Amor, she contributed to millions of record sales and performed massive hits that defined the 1990s Brazilian carnival and radio scene, sharing stages and projects with notable icons such as Daniela Mercury, Martinho da Vila, and Gilberto Gil.

Following her departure from the band, Visi embarked on a vibrant solo career, exploring MPB and paying homage to legendary figures of Brazilian music. Her acclaimed work includes projects dedicated to Gilberto Gil and a biographical tribute album to Clara Nunes titled Pura Claridade. Throughout her career, she has also performed internationally at several editions of the Brazilian Day festivals, solidifying her status as a cultural ambassador of Bahian music abroad.

Beyond her musical achievements, Visi pursued academic interests, earning a degree in journalism and later focusing on environmental management and human ecology. Having faced and overcome personal challenges, including a battle with breast cancer, she continues to engage with her artistic roots, participating in celebratory reunions with former bandmates in projects like Banda Simpatia while living in Lisbon.
