Biography

Carlos Beni Carvalho de Oliveira Borja, better known as Beni Borja, was a Brazilian musician, composer, music producer, and businessman, born in Rio de Janeiro on February 21, 1961, and passed away in Teresópolis on December 23, 2021. With a degree in Law from PUC-Rio, Beni Borja began his musical career in the 1980s, working as a drummer and composer. He was one of the founders of Kid Abelha & Os Abóboras Selvagens, participating in the recording of the band's first demo and co-writing hits such as "Fixação".

After leaving Kid Abelha in late 1983, Beni Borja redirected his career toward music production, becoming a key figure in the Brazilian pop rock scene. He was responsible for producing the first six albums of Biquini Cavadão, launching the band and contributing to the success of hits like "Tédio" and "Vento Ventania". His work as a producer extended to other important artists and groups of the era, such as Gabriel, O Pensador, Farofa Carioca, Leoni, and Fernanda Abreu, cementing his reputation as an "artistic father" to many musicians.

In addition to his work as a musician and producer, Beni Borja also ventured into business, managing Biquini Cavadão's career for nine years. He also produced music videos and film soundtracks, besides having articles published on music and technology. Beni Borja passed away at the age of 60, victim of a heart attack, leaving a significant legacy in Brazilian music, especially in the development of national pop rock in the 80s and 90s.
