Biography

Carlos Dias Fernandes was a prominent Brazilian intellectual, journalist, novelist, and poet born in Mamanguape, Paraíba. Although primarily recognized as a literary figure, essayist, and pioneer of early social movements in Brazil, he left a mark on cultural circles through his association with major figures of Brazilian literature, including the famed symbolist poet Cruz e Souza. His extensive body of work linked him deeply to the intellectual currents of his time, interacting with cultural heavyweights such as José Veríssimo and Rui Barbosa.
