Biography

Carlos do Complexo, also known as CDC, is a music producer, DJ, and artist born and raised in Complexo do Engenho da Rainha, in Rio de Janeiro. He is recognized as one of the most innovative producers of his generation, known for his constant experimentation with sounds that blend electronic music, R&B, funk carioca, and African influences. His journey in music began to gain prominence in 2015, when he became one of the pioneers of the trap/funk aesthetic in Brazil. The track "Satisfação 6am Version" was a milestone in his career, opening doors for collaborations with North American producer Sango and the Soulection label.

Throughout his career, Carlos do Complexo has worked with several renowned artists from the Brazilian scene, such as Silva, Tuyo, BK, Fran, Duda Beat, and Sen Senra. In 2020, he released his debut album "Shani", described by him as "a mystical journey." The following year, he presented "Torus", a work that explores out-of-tune synthesizers and unorthodox sounds, reflecting on his perception of the digital world. In 2021, the track "Visceral", in partnership with Fran and Bibi Caetano, was nominated for a Latin Grammy in the Best Short Form Music Video category.

His third studio album, "No Tengas Miedo (NTGM)" (2023), dives into Latin rhythms and reggaeton, exploring afro-surrealist symbolisms. The deluxe version, "NTGMX", released in 2024, features a more pulsating and aggressive sound, reflecting feelings of anger and overcoming. Carlos do Complexo is admired for his ability to innovate and mix genres, creating a unique sonic identity that moves between electronic experimentalism and the roots of funk carioca, consolidating himself as an influential figure in contemporary Brazilian music.
