Biography

Carlos Ezequiel is a highly accomplished Brazilian drummer, composer, and music producer renowned for his work in jazz and instrumental music. Born in Maceió, Alagoas, he began his musical journey by participating in the Maceió Jazz Festival in 1995. His talent quickly gained international recognition, leading him to receive a scholarship to study at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, USA, where he graduated in 1999. He further honed his academic credentials by obtaining a Master's Degree from the Universidade Federal da Bahia in 2014, focusing on the application of polyrhythms and odd meters to Brazilian rhythms.

Throughout his extensive career, Ezequiel has collaborated with a wide array of both Brazilian and international artists. He has performed and produced music with notable Brazilian musicians such as Airto Moreira, Letieres Leite, Sizão Machado, and Vítor Alcântara. Internationally, he has shared stages and recorded with acclaimed artists like Pekka Pylkkanen, Ronan Guilfoyle, Lage Lund, David Binney, and George Garzone. His solo career has seen the release of albums like "Circular" (2017) and "Circular II" (2023), as well as singles such as "The Other Side" and "Jogo dos Sete Erros." He also released "Aura" (2019) in collaboration with Josué dos Santos.

Beyond his performance and production work, Carlos Ezequiel is also an educator and author. He has authored several books on drumming and Brazilian music, including "Interpretação Melódica para Bateria," "Baião e Ritmos Nordestinos," and "Música Brasileira em Métricas Ímpares." He has taught at institutions like Faculdade Souza Lima in São Paulo and has conducted workshops and given lectures internationally. His contributions to music have been recognized with nominations for prestigious awards such as the Latin Grammy and Prêmio da Música Brasileira.
