Costa graduated with a degree in Literature from UERJ in 1992 and worked as a civil servant for the State Judiciary of Rio de Janeiro.
His career in music began to gain traction in the 1990s, with shows at Teatro Noel Rosa (UERJ) in 1990 and the Projeto Seis e Meia at Teatro Ziembinski in 1991. The album "Conexão Carioca" was later re-released by the Guitarra Brasileira label in 2000. Costa also achieved success as a finalist in the "7º Festival da Escola de Música Villa-Lobos" in 2001 with his song "Temporal."

More recently, Fernanda Brant interpreted his songs "Soberana" and "Faca de ponta" (co-written with Fred Falcão) on the album "Ser tão Brasil" (2018).
