Biography
Carlos Rennó was born in São José dos Campos on January 29, 1956. Working as a composer, lyricist, journalist, and writer, he stood out on the Brazilian music scene mainly during the Vanguarda Paulista movement, a period when he established important partnerships with musicians such as Arrigo Barnabé and Tetê Espíndola. His career includes expressive milestones, such as writing the lyrics to the song "Escrito nas Estrelas," which won first place at the Festival dos Festivais in 1985, performed by Tetê Espíndola.
In addition to his work with popular song, Rennó expanded his activities into literature and musical research. He organized and produced literary works of relevance to the country's culture, such as the book of Cole Porter translations released in 1991 and the publication "Gilberto Gil – Todas as Letras," edited in 1996. His contribution to Brazilian music also extends through family ties, as he is the father of singer Iara Rennó, who remains active within the national artistic scene.
