Biography

Carmem Verônica, born Carmelita Varella Alliz Sicart in Recife, is a celebrated Brazilian actress, former model, and former revuer. Rising to fame in the 1950s as a prominent revrevue theatre star, she earned the affectionate title of the Queen of Freshness due to her distinctive melodious voice, fluttering eyelashes, and flamboyant acting style. Throughout this golden era, she was consistently recognized by journalist Sérgio Porto as one of the ten most beautiful women in the country.

After stepping away from revue theatre in the mid-1960s, she made sporadic television appearances before taking a lengthy hiatus from the mainstream media. She triumphantly returned to acting in the 1990s with a role in the telenovela Deus Nos Acuda. Later, in 2005, she achieved widespread acclaim for portraying the former revue star Mary Montilla in the hit soap opera Belíssima, cementing her legacy in Brazilian television alongside contemporary talents like Dercy Gonçalves.
