Biography

Casa Ramil is a musical project that brings together multiple generations of the renowned Ramil family, a prominent musical dynasty from Pelotas, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The project originated from informal musical gatherings at the family's beach house on the Lagoa dos Patos, fostering a creative environment that bridges different generations of Ramil artists. The initiative was conceptualized and organized by Branca Ramil, sister to acclaimed musicians Vitor Ramil, Kleiton Ramil, and Kledir Ramil.

The "Casa Ramil" project officially gained momentum in 2018 with a series of shows at the Theatro São Pedro in Porto Alegre, which were repeated in 2019. This led to the release of their first album, "Casa Ramil – Ao Vivo," in August 2023, recorded at the same theater and released by Biscoito Fino. The album features a diverse repertoire of songs written by various members of the Ramil family, showcasing their collective talent. The project highlights the unique blend of traditional sounds from Southern Brazil with contemporary influences, incorporating instruments like the saz, cuatro, viola, rabeca, harmonium, and sopapo.

The ensemble comprises seven members: Kleiton Ramil, Kledir Ramil, Vitor Ramil, Ian Ramil, Gutcha Ramil, Thiago Ramil, and João Ramil. This collaboration allows for a dynamic interplay of instruments and vocals, with members often singing each other's compositions and switching between instruments. The project is a testament to the Ramil family's enduring legacy in Brazilian music, with Vitor Ramil and the duo Kleiton & Kledir being pioneers who brought the music of Southern Brazil to national prominence. The younger generation, including Ian, Thiago, Gutcha, and João, have also garnered recognition, with Ian Ramil winning a Latin Grammy for Best Rock Album in Portuguese. Casa Ramil represents a harmonious fusion of tradition and innovation, celebrating family bonds through music.
