Biography

Lucas Domênico Castello Branco Gallo, artistically known as Castello Branco, is a Brazilian singer, songwriter and musician born in Rio de Janeiro on December 11, 1986. Raised in a monastic community in Teresópolis until his adolescence, his unique background and education marked by rigorous precepts profoundly influenced his artistic sensibility and compositions. In his youth, he returned to the capital of Rio de Janeiro and founded the rock band R.Sigma, with which he gained notoriety in the Rio indie scene before leaving the group in 2011 to pursue a solo career.

In 2013, he made his solo debut with the acclaimed album Serviço, an intimate work that reflected his experience in the monastery and featured contributions from artists such as Alice Caymmi and Duda Beat. Over the following years, he expanded his discography with the albums Sintoma (2017) — focused on his adaptation to urban life and influenced by electronic music —, Sermão (2019) and Niska: Uma Mensagem para os Tempos de Emergência (2021), the latter aligned with the solarpunk movement and featuring collaborations with names like Rubel and Mahmundi. In addition to his work in music, Castello Branco also ventured into literature, releasing the poetry book Simpatia in 2016.
