Biography

Caue Capille is an architect and academic whose work focuses on the intersection of architectural design, urban theory, and the socio-political conditions of urban peripheries. He is a professor at the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (FAU UFRJ) and a researcher at the Graduate Programme in Urbanism (PROURB) at the same institution. His academic career includes a PhD in Architecture from The Bartlett, UCL, and he has held visiting lecturer positions at institutions such as the Royal College of Art (RCA).

Capillé's research and teaching explore how architectural design can engage with and respond to the "ordinary urban conditions," particularly in the metropolitan periphery of Rio de Janeiro. His projects have investigated themes such as political architecture, the architecture of transit estates, and the morphology of open spaces. He has received recognition for his work, including honorable mentions at the IX Ibero-American Biennial and the IAB Annual Award for his research on "Metropolitan Rio." His work has also been exhibited and awarded at events like the São Paulo International Architecture Biennial and the RIBA President's Awards for Research.

His academic pursuits are complemented by a strong design and research background. Before his doctoral studies, he graduated in Architecture and Urbanism from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). His early research was supported by CNPq scholarships, and he also served as a Teaching Assistant. Capillé has published articles in academic journals and presented his work at various international conferences and institutions, contributing to the discourse on urbanism and architecture. He is associated with the Urban Studies Foundation, having been an International Fellow.
