Biography

Cecelo Frony, born Marcelo Frony Morgado on January 19, 1960, is a prominent Brazilian guitarist, pianist, bassist, and composer. He began his musical journey by studying classical guitar with Jodacil Damasceno. In 1978, Frony co-founded the band Terra Molhada with Ricardo Aguiar and Carlos Marcio. This group gained significant recognition for their interpretations of Beatles hits, becoming a fixture in Rio de Janeiro's music scene. With Terra Molhada, he recorded albums like "Terra Molhada" and "Out Door." During the early 1980s, Frony expanded his reach by performing across Europe, including France, England, and Germany.

Upon returning to Brazil, Cecelo Frony became a sought-after collaborator, working with numerous MPB artists such as Fagner, Roberto Carlos, Baby Consuelo, Erasmo Carlos, Sá e Guarabyra, and Tavito. His international performances continued, accompanying Brazilian artists in over 10 countries, including Portugal, the USA, and Canada. He also contributed to recordings with artists like Zizi Possi and Renato Teixeira. Frony has shared stages with international music icons like Carlos Santana, Paco de Lucia, and The Wailers.

In 1995, he formed the Cecelo Frony Trio, further exploring his musical vision. His solo career launched in 1999 with the album "Cecelo Frony," which featured original compositions and reinterpretations of Beatles and Tom Jobim songs, earning critical acclaim. In 2002, he released "Carioca Samblues." Beyond his performance and recording career, Frony is also an accomplished producer, co-founding the production company Prof. Pardal in 1994, where he has created jingles and soundtracks for commercials, TV shows, and films, receiving an ABP award for Best Audio Professional in 2003. His compositions have been recorded by artists like Erasmo Carlos and Angélica.
