Biography

Celacanto was a vocal quartet active in the Brazilian music scene between 1995 and 1999. The group was formed by Ana Martins (daughter of Nélson Ângelo and Joyce), Muiza Adnet (sister of Mario, Chico, and Maúcha Adnet), Valéria Mariano, and Letícia Carvalho. Their career, though brief, saw them participate in significant events and collaborations within the Brazilian music landscape.

In 1995, under the name Seis em Ponto, they performed as a sextet at the "Uma canção para o Rio" festival. Later, after some lineup changes, they adopted the name Celacanto and contributed to the recording and launch of Joyce's CD "Ilha Brasil" in 1996. The same year, they also recorded on CDs by Nélson Ângelo and Ricardo Bomba, showcasing their versatility and presence in the music industry.

By 1997, Celacanto continued as a trio, performing in various cultural spaces. Their final known collaboration was in 1999, when they shared the track "Vai trabalhar, vagabundo" with Joyce on Chico Buarque's CD. Following this project, the group disbanded, and its members pursued solo careers, leaving behind a small but notable mark on Brazilian popular music.
