Biography
Celo Dut is a Brazilian singer and songwriter born and raised in Cidade Baixa, in Salvador, Bahia. His musical journey started early, with influences dating back to childhood, when his mother would rock him to sleep with radio songs while still pregnant with him. At nine years old, Celo Dut stepped on stage for the first time, opening a show for his family's band, Mezadut, where he demonstrated his musicality by playing the agogô. At 19, he deepened his relationship with art by joining a rap group, which led him to cross paths with Baco Exu do Blues. Impressed by Celo Dut's vocal power, Baco invited him to join the 999 label.
His music moves with versatility between rap and R&B, featuring an unmistakable vocal timbre and an artistic identity that set him apart in his generation. Celo Dut has participated in major events, such as Rock in Rio, and drew international attention with his performance on the Colors project, interpreting the song "Não Vou Ceder". He has also released the EP "Todo Dia Uma Vida" in partnership with producer and rapper Dactes, and the single "Convicção", released via the 999 label, addresses themes such as overcoming adversity and the challenges of urban life.
Celo Dut stands out for making art a medium of power and transformation, addressing in his lyrics themes such as overcoming adversity, ambition, and the experiences of urban life. He has released singles like "Fardas e Fadas", "Doce" (his first EP), and "Só Você" in collaboration with Melly. His music is recognized for carrying real-life experiences and a genuine commitment to Black culture, positioning him as one of the most original and promising voices in the new Brazilian music scene, self-defined by him as the "new MPB".
