Celso Alvim is a Brazilian percussionist, maestro, and professor, renowned for his significant contributions to Brazilian popular music, particularly within the samba and carnival music scenes. He began his musical journey in his adolescence, initially drawn to the drums and even participating in a Beatles cover band during his school years.

Alvim is widely recognized for his role as the conductor of the percussion section and as an instructor at the "Oficina do Monobloco," a highly influential percussion workshop that evolved into the renowned carnival bloco, Monobloco. His expertise extends to teaching instruments like the "chocalho" (shaker), a vital element in Brazilian rhythmic music. His involvement with Monobloco has been pivotal in shaping the group's distinctive sound and its massive popularity during Carnival celebrations in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.
