Biography

César Roldão Vieira was a multifaceted Brazilian artist, known for his work as an instrumentalist, composer, singer, and actor. Born in Guaratinguetá, São Paulo, on May 23, 1944, Vieira began his musical career in 1963, with his first composition, "Balanço de criança," recorded by Maria Lúcia. His talent quickly gained recognition, leading him to compose the soundtrack for the children's musical "Viagem ao faz-de-conta" in partnership with Milton Nascimento in 1967.

Vieira's career also extended to the theatrical world. He participated in several plays, including "O inspetor geral" (1966), "Terra de ninguém," and "Esta noite falamos de medo." He also performed in the Brazilian productions of the musicals "Hair" (1972) and "Jesus Cristo Superstar" (1972), where he played Judas. Throughout his career, his compositions were interpreted by renowned artists such as Elis Regina, Jair Rodrigues, Claudia, Agnaldo Rayol, Maysa, Moacyr Franco, and Roberto Carlos.

Beyond his artistic endeavors, Vieira was also a qualified speech therapist, practicing his profession in Scotland, Switzerland, and the United States. In 1996, he moved to England, where he lived and worked until his passing on August 12, 2023. César Roldão Vieira left a significant mark on Brazilian music and theater, remembered for his diverse talents and contributions.
