Biography
Formed in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, in early 1985, the band Chakal is a milestone in the Brazilian thrash metal scene. Since its foundation, the group has stood out for its originality and competence, earning national and international recognition.
Chakal played a fundamental role in building the heavy metal scene in Belo Horizonte, a city known for housing other influential bands such as Sepultura, Mutilator, and Sarcófago. Its debut at festivals like Metal BH II, alongside major names, solidified its presence in the underground. The band released its first album, "Abominable Anno Domini", in 1987, a work that became a reference in Brazilian thrash/black metal of the era.
Throughout its trajectory, Chakal has gone through several line-ups, but maintained its musical identity with ironic and harsh lyrics, and a sound marked by virtuoso guitars. The band has released several critically acclaimed albums, such as "The Man Is His Own Jackal" (1990) and "Death Is a Lonely Business" (1991), consolidating its legacy as one of the pioneering and most important extreme metal bands in Brazil.
