Biography

Charles de Souza Gavin was born in São Paulo on July 9, 1960. A musician, composer, music producer, and presenter, he became widely known for his long career as the drummer of the band Titãs, a group he was part of between 1984 and 2010, in addition to returning for a commemorative tour between 2023 and 2024. Before joining Titãs, he passed through important lineups of the alternative and 1980s rock scene, such as Zero Hora, Cabine C, and Ira!, as well as rehearsing with RPM.

Throughout his career, Charles Gavin was also involved in several other prominent musical projects. In 2011, he joined Toni Platão, Dado Villa-Lobos, and Dé Palmeira to form the supergroup Panamericana, focused on South American rock. Later, in 2017, he joined the Primavera dos Dentes project, dedicated to revisiting the legacy of the group Secos & Molhados. As a music producer and researcher, he stood out for the rescue and rerelease of rare vinyl records by artists such as Tom Zé, Lady Zu, and Novos Baianos, in addition to authoring publications like the book 300 Discos Importantes da Música Brasileira and hosting the show O Som do Vinil.
