Biography

Charlie Brown Jr. was a prominent Brazilian rock band formed in Santos in 1992, blending elements of skate punk, alternative rock, hardcore, and hip hop. The group's original line-up featured charismatic frontman Chorão alongside bassist Champignon, guitarristas Marcão Britto and Thiago Castanho, and drummer Renato Pelado. Throughout their career, they released numerous successful studio albums and live records, capturing the energy of Brazilian youth culture and earning multiple Latin Grammy awards.

The band's journey was marked by tremendous commercial success, critical acclaim, and internal turmoil. After releasing chart-topping records such as Preço Curto... Prazo Longo and 100% Charlie Brown Jr., the group experienced various line-up changes and personal tensions among members, including brief departures and public disagreements with figures like Marcelo Camelo. Despite these challenges, they remained one of the most influential rock acts in the country, celebrated for their dynamic stage presence and anthemic hits.

Tragedy struck in 2013 when lead singer Chorão passed away, leading to the official end of the band. Shortly after, bassist Champignon also died, prompting remaining members to pursue different musical paths, including projects like A Banca and eventual tribute tours featuring guests such as Egypcio. Today, Charlie Brown Jr. is remembered as a cornerstone of modern Brazilian rock, maintaining a massive legacy alongside contemporaries like Sepultura and Natiruts.
