Biography
Chico e o Mar is a brazilian band formed in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, in 2018. The group consists of Daniel Moreira, Caco Gomes, Gui Vittoraci, and Thales Siqueira. The band's sound oscillates between indie pop and experimentation, creating an authentic and impactful identity. The lyrics address everyday themes, relationships, and existential issues, with an energy that reflects the excitements of youth.
Since the beginning of their journey, Chico e o Mar has stood out for their live performances. In 2019, the band started performing frequently at the music venue A Autêntica, in Belo Horizonte, a stage for renowned artists such as Lagum, O Terno, and Tulipa Ruiz. After the period of restrictions imposed by the pandemic, the group went on a tour through cities like Belo Horizonte, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, and Manaus, consolidating their presence in the national music scene. In 2023, they shared the stage with the band Jovem Dionísio in a show for over 700 people at A Autêntica.
In 2024, the band launched the party "¡Baila, Chico!". The project has been taking indie music fans to the main music venues in Belo Horizonte, with invitations for artistic residencies. The band also got involved in visual identity projects, such as the design for the crowdfunding campaign of their debut album, "Chico e o Mar", released in 2022. The album's aesthetics were inspired by the skateboarding universe and 90s counterculture, using collages, manual lettering, and a reduced color palette to create a powerful and playful visual identity.
