Biography

Francisco Figueiredo Roque, better known as Chico Roque, is a prolific Brazilian composer born in Niterói on April 27, 1953. Throughout his career, he has amassed hundreds of recordings and re-recordings of his songs across a wide spectrum of musical genres in Brazil, ranging from sertanejo and pagode to axé and children's music. Working alongside notable partners such as Carlos Colla and Paulinho Rezende, his compositions have been recorded by prominent figures like Alcione, Sandra de Sá, and Fafá de Belém.

In 1979, the renowned sambista Alcione recorded "Menino sem juízo," co-written with Paulinho Rezende, marking an important step in his trajectory. Over the decades, his versatility allowed him to write enduring hits interpreted by diverse major artists, including sertanejo duos like Chitãozinho e Xororó and Leandro e Leonardo, as well as pop and children's acts such as Xuxa and Angélica. In 1987, he released his self-titled debut LP on the Chanteclair label, featuring several collaborative tracks with Carlos Colla.

Chico Roque continues to be an influential figure in Brazilian popular music, known for his ability to craft memorable melodies for various renowned interpreters. His extensive catalog includes famous collaborations with other esteemed songwriters like Paulo Sérgio Valle and Alípio Martins.
