Biography

Chimarruts is a prominent Brazilian reggae band formed in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, in June 2000. Rooted in casual park gatherings where the founding members played acoustic guitars and shared mate, the group quickly evolved into one of the country's most successful independent reggae acts. Their melodic sound, characterized by positive messages of love and peace, resonated deeply with audiences across southern Brazil before propelling them to national stardom.

Throughout their career, the band shared stages with iconic Brazilian artists such as Gilberto Gil, Os Paralamas do Sucesso, Lulu Santos, and Capital Inicial at major festivals like Planeta Atlântida. They released several acclaimed albums, including their self-titled debut in 2002, Todos Somos Um, Livre para Viajar, and Só pra Brilhar, spawning massive radio hits like "Versos Simples", "Deixa Chover", and "Do Lado de Cá". Their music has also been featured in television soundtracks across major Brazilian networks, cementing their legacy in contemporary Brazilian popular culture.
