Biography

Chrystian & Ralf was a renowned Brazilian "sertanejo" duo formed by the Goiás-born brothers Chrystian and Ralf Richardson da Silva, established in the country's music scene starting in the 1980s. Nationally and internationally known for the characteristic high-pitched sound of their voices, they earned the nickname of "Brazil's most in-tune duo" and made recording history by becoming the first artists in the sertanejo genre to sell 1 million copies of LPs. Throughout their career, the duo released dozens of successful albums, placing countless tracks on Brazilian television soap opera soundtracks, such as the memorable "Mia Gioconda," recorded in partnership with Agnaldo Rayol for the soap opera O Rei do Gado.

In addition to their enormous commercial impact with millions of records sold and various gold, platinum, and diamond certifications, Chrystian & Ralf stood out for their innovation and artistic versatility. On their "Viajantes da Canção" tour, they demonstrated vocal range by moving through the universe of opera and paying tribute to great MPB icons like Elis Regina and Dalva de Oliveira. The duo also ventured into the international market with a Spanish-language album and maintained a strong cultural presence until the definitive end of their joint activities in 2021, preceded by Chrystian's passing in 2024.

The duo's influence extends deeply across later generations of sertanejo music, dialoguing with the work of several exponents of the medium such as Zezé Di Camargo & Luciano, Edson & Hudson, and Eduardo Costa. The brothers' legacy remains alive in the memory of fans and in the history of Brazilian music as one of the pillars of vocal excellence and market innovation in the sertanejo segment.
