Biography

Cid Seixas, whose full name is Cid Seixas Fraga Filho, was born in Maragogipe, Bahia, in the district of Nagé, on January 4, 1948. His career is marked by multifaceted activities, spanning the fields of writing, journalism, university teaching, and musical composition. He began his academic education in Salvador, where he completed high school, and later entered the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) to study journalism, a course he left to dedicate himself to the profession. His academic background deepened with an undergraduate degree from the Catholic University of Salvador, a master's degree in linguistics from UFBA, and a doctorate in literature from the University of São Paulo (USP). He worked as a retired full professor at UFBA.

As a journalist, Cid Seixas had a prolific career, working for major media outlets such as Rádio Cultura da Bahia, Diário de Notícias, and Estado da Bahia. He founded and directed the literary supplement "Jornal de Cultura" and worked for a period in television as a host and producer of musical shows. His work as a writer and journalist led him to explore various facets of Brazilian culture, including cuisine in the work of Jorge Amado, on which he granted interviews.

In music, Cid Seixas demonstrated his talent as a composer, with partnerships established with names such as Batatinha, Carlos Lacerda, and Fernando Lona. His musical work, although less publicized than his other activities, contributes to the rich panorama of Brazilian popular music.
